When you don’t eat gluten or dairy, finding a pizza can be difficult. There are several gluten-free frozen pizzas out there, but since I don’t eat dairy, that is only an option if I want to attempt to peel off all the cheese (which I can never get completely off). I’m a fan of the Schär bread products so I wanted to try the Schär pizza crust for my next gluten & dairy-free veggie pizza. It was very good! It can be challenging to get a gluten-free crust crispy, but this crust is sold fresh, not frozen, which I think helps when baking.
I also like how the Schär pizza crust comes with two crusts per package. My husband made his with a combination of mozzarella and havarti cheese then topped with Boar’s Head pepperoni. I would say the two crusts could easily serve three people, especially if you are serving with an additional side, such as a side salad, hot kale, or spinach artichoke dip.
Below is the shopping list to make my version of a gluten & dairy-free veggie pizza, but you can add or remove any of the toppings to make to your liking.
Shopping List
- Schär Pizza Crust
- Jar of your favorite pizza sauce
- Sliced mushrooms
- Roma tomato, sliced
- Basil (dried or fresh)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 410°
- Remove pizza crust from packaging and place each on separate pieces of aluminum foil (by cooking on foil instead of a baking sheet, I find the crust to get crispier).
- Add your choice of toppings to the pizza
- Bake for 12-15 minutes on the top rack (extra toppings may increase cooking time)
- Remove from oven, let cool for a few minutes, and enjoy!
