Simple and Delicious Low Sugar Margarita

Simple and Delicious Low Sugar Margarita

Margaritas are one of the hardest drinks to order out if you are trying to avoid sugar. Almost all are made with a mix, agave, and other things that add to the sweetness and high-sugar content. Once you’ve cut most sugar out of your diet like I have, anything too sweet is less enjoyable and can even make you feel sick. For those that like margaritas and want to make them at home using no added sugar (besides the lime), below is my recipe for a simple and delicious low sugar margarita!

The shopping list below is to make one margarita, so assuming you aren’t drinking alone you’ll need to plan your shopping list accordingly. Our go-to tequilas, depending on how much we want to spend, are (1) Milagro Silver, (2) 1800 Silver, or (3) Patron Silver.

If you are looking for a snack to serve with your margaritas, try making my homemade guacamole or fresh tomato & cilantro salsa.

Shopping List

  • 1-2 shots (1 1/2 – 3 ounces) of tequila
  • Juice and pulp from one large lime
  • Anywhere from a splash to topping-off-the-glass with club soda

Instructions

  • In a glass of ice, add tequila first, then lime juice, and top with club soda
  • Enjoy (responsibly)!
